An ovarian cyst is a sac of fluid that is collected inside or on the surface of an ovary. These cysts are quite common and usually don’t need treatment as they go away on their own after a few months. A more serious manifestation is a situation in which the cysts get twisted or ruptured.
The larger cysts tend to present more identifiable symptoms, in general. The bigger ones can be treated in a multitude of ways including medication and surgery, wherein options for the latter include laparoscopic and laparotomic procedures depending on the condition of the patient. All in all, one would feel pain in the lower body near the pelvis and abdomen only when one has a larger ovarian cyst, while the smaller cysts do not present themselves with pain being a symptom.
